Yesterday we took part in a networking event at Footprint Scenery HQ called ‘The Black Box Xchange’. We had the pleasure of listening to Matt Green, Commercial Director at The Broadsword Group, talking about his experiences.

Matt’s talk was inspiring and we would like to share some great points from it:

  • Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are spreading into all business sectors.
  • 3D and parallax (2.5D) are technologies now getting more use and attention at events and presentations to provide an immersive experience.
  • We are going to see more cross pollination of industries best practices, for instance retail practices can be deployed into the events industry.
  • We do believe that technology is moving very fast, Google Glass and VR have been deployed by theme parks and museums around the world.

As a matter of fact, over the past 3 years the world of electronics has undergone a period of massive democratisation. Never before has electronics design and technology been as accessible or affordable to a mass audience as it is now. Low cost devices like Arduino and Raspberry Pi have started to open up the world of technology to an audience that was previously uninterested, inexpert, or simply could not afford to experiment with electronic design.

At modoola, we are working on integrating these technologies into furniture making. If you have any insight or ideas that you would like to share please feel free to contact us, we would love to hear from you.
